This month, we’re Spotlighting the protests in Israel so far in 2023. Here’s what Alon Kopel from Noar Telem had to say.
“The Israeli government, elected about a year ago, is currently abusing their position by trying to pass laws that will undermine the supreme court’s power. These laws, if passed in whole, would damage the democratic nature of the country.
Add to that the high number of terror attacks and the negligence in the Arab villages and cities who receive no help from the government, this situation concerns many Israeli citizens who now protest for the future of the country.
Every Saturday night, hundreds of thousands of people including me and my family fill the main streets of Tel Aviv and many other cities to try and stop the legislation.”
